I would rather be ashes than dust!

“I would rather be ashes than dust! I would rather that my spark should burn out in a brilliant blaze than it should be stifled by dry-rot. I would rather be a superb meteor, every atom of me in magnificent glow, than a sleepy and permanent planet. The function of man is to live, not to exist. I shall not waste my days trying to prolong them. I shall use my time.”

Jack London

This is pretty relevant stuff! Especially for us Dreamers whom have come so close to giving up are dreams and allowing life to take from us that spark that The Creator instilled within us. I myself almost did just that. I’m currently at Haven Behavioral War Heroes Hospital undergoing treatment for PTSD, Generalized Anxiety Disorder and, as it turns out, a ton of childhood trauma as well. I’m getting to the root of my problems and attacking them head on! I’m simultaneously amazed and disgusted at the path I allowed the enemy to trick me into walking and how easily and quickly he was able to cloud my vision, judgment and sense of self; however, I wasn’t designed to give up on my dreams that easily. I’m regaining my identity in Christ and remembering who He made me to be! I would like to share the following passage from the book WIDE AWAKE by Erwin McManus.

“What you expect form yourself and your life has a direct effect on what you will get out of life. How you imagine yourself and your future has a huge effect on what actually happens.” Creating the life of your dreams begins with the dream. It begins with the ability to imagine yourself differently than you are and your life differently than it is.”

W-O-W! This is something that resonates deeply within me. For the past couple of years I’ve only seen my life through the viewfinder of Pain and Fear! Somewhere along the way I gave up on my dreams and lost touch with the most essential part of myself.

“Sometimes our capacity to dream of a different us, of a different life, is beaten up and left broken by people and pain and disappointment. Sometimes what should be a dream inspiring us is actually a fantasy distracting us.” McManus

Have you ever noticed that sometimes your desire to accomplish something can pull you through? Ever notice that people who refuse to give up seem to succeed the most? Ever notice that people who EXPECT great things seem to accomplish great things?

“If your dreams are supposed to be bigger than your life, then your life will always be limited by the size of your dreams. Sometimes getting up and walking is more about your head than your legs.”

    Food for thought! =)
